A Crybaby behaves like a child who doesn't get his own way. Not getting his way causes negativity. He frowns, withdraws, goes off on a tirade, and literally cry.

I once worked with a very bright and extremely well known organizational development consultant who was highly regarded by all of his clients. Oftentimes, however, when projects were running into roadblocks or the clients weren't giving him everything he asked for, he would go into his office, lock it, and pout and whine. The clients would come to him and apologize and say sweet and nice things to him. Then he would return to work.

The favorite saying of the Crybaby is "Nobody loves me." A Crybaby contractor, for instance, would complain something like this: "The pressure is getting to be too much. I'm not getting your full cooperation. I'm getting all stressed out. I want to do a great job for you. It's really hard doing this work."

The Solution

This person needs a supportive environment and constant encouragement that they are doing well. You also have to lower stress and pressure levels.
