Evangelical minister Ted Haggard had just voiced his support for Colorado’s marriage-protection act (which would have defined marriage as being only between a man and a woman), when a male prostitute came forward with allegations that Haggard had paid him for sex. Haggard later admitted that the allegations were true.

Gayle Haggard, Ted’s wife, professed her faithfulness to her husband in a letter to Haggard’s congregation. Ted later stated that he asked Gayle to divorce him, and she refused. The Haggards remain married, and have appeared on numerous television shows to talk about Ted’s therapy—which he claims has made him completely heterosexual.
