New York governor Eliot Spitzer lost his job because of a call girl. Actually, it was several call girls. Over the course of his career as attorney general and later as governor, Spitzer spent $80,000 on high-priced prostitutes.
Spitzer’s wife, lawyer Silda Wall Spitzer, stayed by his side, and has never spoken publically about her husband’s indiscretions. In May, 2008, however, in her first public appearance after the scandal, Silda spoke at a charity event where she thanked and greeted guests with the comment, "I hope
your spring has been less eventful."
