In June, 2009, South Carolina governor Mark Sanford told his wife (and his entire staff) that he needed time away to work on a project. He was actually in Argentina, having an affair with a woman he’d known for 8 years. When Sanford returned to deliver his tearful 'fess-up press conference, his wife Jenny broke important wronged-political-wife protocol: She didn’t attend. The Sanfords are currently separated.
